d st bedr This is a colorful ,attractive and interesting Flatback figurine Entitled ‘Highlander’ It depicts a young pair of sweethearts….possibly going to a Harvest Dance. She carries a sheath of corn on her head and he has a small barrel of possibly cider or beer under his arm. They are both dressed in smart clothes with gold embellishments. This I feel is an early reproduction …it has one hole in the base. It is heavy and feels ‘right’. The cobalt blue was typical of the period as are the other colors in the palette. It has overall crazing, linear crack on the lady’s skirt, very difficult to notice, see all photos Personally I think this is one of the nicest flatbacks that I have seen. I love the theme….it is although a very cheering piece! The pair are very similar in appearance ….could almost be brother and sister and the hand painting is delicate and intricate.
