This is a great vintage Royal Staffordshire Ceramics Cigar Ashtray in the Tonquin Brown pattern by Clarice Cliff . The edge is decorated with lovely brown trim, around a lovely landscape and flowers on an ivory background. The ashtray is 8.5 inches across. Marked on the bottom: “Tonquin”, Royal Staffordshire Ceramics by Clarice Cliff, Made in England, Clarice Cliff. Nice, bright & shiny. This pattern has been discontinued. Excellent condition with no chips, breaks, cracks, or repairs, little to no usage. Clarice Cliff was a designer who worked in several English pottery factories, including A.J. Wilkinson Ltd., Wilkinson’s Royal Staffordshire Pottery, Newport Pottery, and Foley Pottery after the 1920’s.
