I dated this hammer back to approximately 1872 , that makes it over 150 years old! The Y&K stands for Jonathan Yerkes & Fayette R. Plumb. I enclosed a portion of research that I did that tells some of the history , that being said this is one of the last of the Mohicans , as they sa y. The handle has seen better days, but could very well be the original ,it has a marking at the very far end that appears to be an owners last name, but I’m not quite sure .
