This is a great lot of Ribbonwood – Adenostoma sparsifolium burl pieces with measurements as shown. Similar to Manzanita, Ribbonwood, also known as Redshanks, is a hardwood with beautiful colors. Also like Manzanita, it can be a bit of a challenge to work with, but the rewards are well worth the effort. These are from the root sections of a huge old trees that were removed about 8 months ago. The wood is seasoning naturally, with most reading low moisture content, almost at atmospheric humidity here in So Cal. This is a really nice batch of pieces with great colors, burl, checks, voids and inclusions with so much potential. Great for resin casting, carving, turning, scales or other projects. I misted the surfaces with a light oil to show a bit of the great character and help stabilize cut surfaces. This is a valuable resource for any woodworker or general hobbyist.
