DETAILS UPDATING SOON This is a beautiful slab of Ribbonwood – Adenostoma sparsifolium burl wood . It measures approximately 15x13x2-1/2″ . Similar to Manzanita, Ribbonwood, also known as Redshanks, is a hardwood with beautiful colors. Also like Manzanita, it can be a bit of a challenge to work with, but the rewards are well worth the effort. This is from the root section of a huge old tree that was removed a few months ago. The wood is seasoning naturally, so it can be considered somewhat green and easier to work with. It currently weighs about 9 pounds. This is a beautiful piece with great colors, burl, checks, some dry rot and inclusions with so much potential. With prep, great for resin casting. I misted the surfaces with a light oil to show a bit of the great character. After photographing I applied a wax/oil blend to help stabilize cut surfaces. This is a valuable resource for any woodworker or general hobbyist. The only limit is your imagination. Shipping quote is for delivery to the continental US.
