This specie is also known as Terminalia elliptica (syn. T. tomentosa). Indian Laurel varies from light brown to dark brown with darker, nearly black streaks. Sapwood is a pale pinkish color, clearly demarcated from the heartwood. Laurel’s grain is generally straight or slightly interlocked or irregular with a medium to coarse uniform texture, and low natural luster. It is generally easy to work. It turns and finishes well.
