Due to its low weight (460 g) and its small dimensions (length: 120 mm, width: 96-114 mm), these binoculars fit in any backpack and don’t get in the way, even on longer tours. The phase correction layer PHC140, newly developed for the EDX 8×30, prevents 99 percent of all unwanted wave-optical effects and thus prevents even the smallest blur. Innovative coating guarantees razor-sharp contours With the EDX 8×30, the optical image is reproduced in maximum detail and without edge blur according to the current state of the art. This is guaranteed by the special coating DDlucid, with which the two roof surfaces of the Schmidt-Pechan roof prism are additionally provided. This coating, which originated in the Japanese photo industry, is a further development of the well-known and tried and tested ELR coating (Extra Low Reflection). DDlucid is one of the most effective binocular compensations. Currently, only premium binoculars have such similarly sophisticated coatings. The result is a field of view of 150 m with the “EDX 8×30”, which also meets the most demanding expectations. This allows the user to observe objects at a distance of 1,000 m and at a glance in a space that is approximately one and a half times the length of a soccer field. This is a record for binoculars in the 8×30 category. It should be emphasized that despite the large field of view, there is hardly any distortion and the image is sharp right up to the edges. Best close range properties The focus range of the EDX 8×30 already starts at 1.3 m. An adult can, for example, see their own toes sharply and clearly.
