Dahlia campanulata is a deciduous perennial in the Asteraceae family. Its native range is Mexico (Guerrero and Oaxaca). It grows from a large tuber in scrublands, at high elevations, around 6500 feet. The tuber supports arching herbaceous stems that reach 3-4 feet with tripinnate leaves. It produces beautiful white oversized bell-shaped flowers that nod down with a pink center. It may be grown in a container with support. It prefers a mild climate and grows best in full sun with moist, well-drained soil. Zones 9-10 Germination Place your seeds and some soil in a ziplock bag. Moisten the mixture enough so it sticks together without water dripping out. Write the name of the seeds on the bag. Place the mixture in your refrigerator for 30 days. Seeds can then be sown into a well-drained, sandy compost and covered lightly with sand or grit. Place the seed tray in filtered bright light and keep moist until germination.
