1966 Conn ’10M’ Tenor Year: 1960s Make: Conn Model: 10M Status: For Sale Finish: Original Serial Number: H95,xxx (On Consignment – as is; shop has a backlog of work) An affordable 10M – Yeah Buddy! Don’t knock on the 60s era 10M too harshly. It still sounds like a 10M, but the snobs will overlook this horn. Trust me, it’s good but obviously is no match against a 10M from 1935-42 ($3000-5500 duh). These are built like tanks, seriously – very STRONG, thick metal. It’s great for the ‘rough’ player or venues. Don’t worry about the dents on the bottom bow; they could come out nicely. It could use a pants guard, but that’s optional for functioning needs. Double-socket neck has some heavy denting and pulldown that will have to get minor attention also. I already helped 50% of the denting after the photos were taken. (If you ask, I can send some pics of the neck smoothed out 50%.) I do recommend most of the expected work go into the neck octave key alignment with the body lever. SOUND: This one has “Conn” tone, and “that 10M tone” but with the ’60s reputation. (I’m trying to say that it still sounds like a Conn 10M, but it’s not the $3,500+ crisp/resonant-tone that comes from the 1930s/40s… This one is 25+ years later.) PADS: It’s on older pads that do play “ok/rough” currently. Adjustments and minor repairs strongly recommended required. They can last a while and this sax can fill a great role as a starter, pep/marching horn or back up sax. CASE: original rounded Conn case in good working order. Item #:WWSConRF0W7.0W0.12061.8-C0-L030
