THIS IS A NEW REPRODUCTION OF THE CORRECT 396 /402 375HP L78 AND L89 CAMSHAFT. ALSO CORRECT FOR 1970 CHEVELLE / EL CAMINO LS6 450HP AND CORVETTE 450HP 1970-1971. NEW SET OF SOLID FLAT TAPPPET LIFTERS INCLUDED. THE LIFTERS WILL BE UPGRADED WITH EDM FACE OILING TO HELP AVOID FAILED CAM BREAK-IN PROCEDURE. IMPORTANT: These are the best lifters we have found (outside the originals used by GM in the 1960’s and early 1970’s / now discontinued) which had a fused on hardened foot. The lifters with the hardened foot have a much higher probability of lasting and not failing, even over these EDM lifters. We offer a replacement lifter set with the hardened foot under ebay item # 134289172761. We also offer this same camshaft grind but modified for hydraulic lifter if you do not want to be bother with the noise and adjustment of a solid mechanical. Contact Jerry through ebay for more information. RECOMMENDED BREAK-IN PROCEDURE: Delvac 15w 40 diesel oil. Also, you can add a bottle of zddp plus at break-in and with each oil change. Keep higher idle 1800-2500 range for first hour of run time, minimum 30 minutes. You can shut it off in between the first hour to check things. But when running keep idle up and do not over heat it for first 30 minutes to 1 hour. Spraying the oil pan with radiator with cool garden hose helps a lot too. Keeping the water and oil temps down helps reduce failures. Change oil and filter after break-in period. Run the disel oil with bottle of zddp plus with each oil change indefinately.
