We are proud to be one of the first on ebay to offer the LADDERFLAUGE ladder stand concealment kits As anyone who has hunted deer for a while can tell you there are two types of deer, Little dumb ones ( I have a had alot of these in my freezer over the years ) and the smart big ones. The big ones got big because they survided thru the years by watching every step they made in the woods constantly on the lookout for somthing that looks, smells, sounds, or just pain feals out of place. This explains why I have had little yearings come up and sniff on and lick the ATV I rode into the woods that day and have seen a older buck take and spot me , snort, and run off before I even knew he was there from hundreds of yards away when I was in full camo and scent eliminating clothing . Even when you take and set your ladder stand up months in advance to let the deer get used to it, the smart ones will always be supecious of this strange looking attachment on a tree in their woods. Every time they pass by that tree they will always give it a good looking over to make sure it is safe. Add a hunter dressed in bright orange squirming arround the little perch on the top of the stand, smelling like coffee grounds and it does not take long for the smart deer to know somthing is up. One of the reasons to hunt out of a elivated deer stand is to get up above where the deer is used to looking for predators ( not many coyotes attack from above ) . The ladder on a unconcealed ladder stand is like a arrow in the woods pointing straight up to you and announcing your presence for the entire animal kingdom to see……except for squirrels, they just dont care, your trestand is just another jungle gym to those guys. Try this little expirment, next time you go to the woods see how close you can get to your ladderstand before you or better yet your buddies can spot it. 50 yards, 150 yards, 200 yards? I have seen some that when the sun hits just right you can see them from a car going down the highway at 60MPH over a 1/4 mile away……..do you think the deer arround there have noticed it yet…….the smart ones anyway? So herein lies the entire purpose of the LADDERFLAUGE concealment system. The rail covers and vegitiation help to blend in the part of your ladder stand that is most likely to attract attention……the ladder. This makes it harder to pick out when the smart deer are scaning the woods as they come thru picking up acorns like a vaccum. If the deer gets 100 or even just 25 yards closer before spoting your stand that is that much more time you have to prepare for that critical shot. And ask any bow hunter how just a few yards closer or a deer standing there for just a few extra seconds can make all the difference. Another nice thing about concealing your ladderstand ladder is it make theft of your deerstand or use by tresspassers that much harder. If they cant see it they are not going to be tempted to steal it. This kit contains enough cover chanel, artifical foliage, and zip ties to cover 8 linear ft of railing or tubing on your deerstand. This could also be used to cover the 2 side rails on a 4 ft ladder. OR combined with one of the other kits we offer to extend say the 16 ft ladder stand kit to a 20 ft ladder stand kit. The LADDERFLAUGE system is designed to be used on ladder stands with standard square 1 inch side rails…..however if you are smart enough to assemble your own ladder stand you are smart enough to adapt the cover chanels to fit different types of rails. We have figured out how to adapt the cover chanels to coverer the folowing types of side rails and bracing. 1 inch square rails ( this is what the system is designed for so no adaptation is necessary ) Square rails bigger than 1″ ( just take and put the cover channels on the corners of square rails and sinch them down with the zip ties and it works just fine.) Round rails that are 1″ or smaller ( may requre you to put a small stick or something in the channel when tighting dow zip ties to keep channel facing the direction you desire) Round rails over 1 inch ( no adaptation is necessary, just tighten the zip ties down tight ) Ladders with Double rails on each side ( you can usually cover just one of the rails and the foliage will help break up the presence of the other) Ladders with the large quick disconnect pin clips ( usually you can just go right over the pins and the channels will just bulge out there, if you want you can easily cut notches in the cover chanels for the clips or even just cut the entire cover chanel where you are just covering the sections of the ladder between the clips. Curved rails or bends ( if you just cut most of the way thru the cover chanel, but not completly, in a couple of places you can bend it to conform to angles and curves) The Vertical rail of climbing sticks can also be covered, just might have to cut the channel covers into short pieces. The cover rail is easily cut with a small saw ( proably the same one you are going to use to trim back branches) or with a little skill a pocket knife can be used to cut the pieces shorter…..but a saw works way better. Cover rails are marked at 12, 36, and 24 inches incase you forgot your measureing tape. Instialtion on a typical stand takes about 20 minuets…….goes even faster if you can get a buddy to help hand stuff to you while you stay up in the stand. This kit includes the following: 2 pieces of 48″ long cover chanel with 15 holes to insert foliage in per channel 20 sprigs of artifical leaves to insert into your cover chanels 6 large zip ties to seccure it all to your ladder stand Ladderstands and tree stands shown in pictures are not included. All the cover chanel is made and packaged in the USA Artifical foliage sprigs are imported QUICK TIPS Use left over pieces of channel to cover tree stand platform edges, ladder brace, and shooting rails. You can put more foliage sprigs on lets say the north side of your stand if you tink deer will be aproaching from the north. You can use pieces of channel to bridge over open spaces on the platform of your stand, just rember LADDERFLAUGE is designed for concealment only and not ment to support weight or be used as any structural element of a your deerstand Use left over sprigs of foliage on your hunting gear and even surrounding structure to make everthing blend together. Always install chanel covers with LADDERFLAUGE symbol at the top of the channel as holes for sprigs of foliage are cut at a angle and this will keep them pointing up. A fine tooth wood blade works best to cut pieces of cover channel, think slightly more corse than a hack saw blade You can use sprigs of leaves purchased from a local craft store to add different species and colors of leaves to your LADDERFLAUGE system to closely match the native foliage. A very light coat of flat spray paint can be used to help blend in the cover chanels more closely to match the bark on surrounding trees If a section of cover rail needs to be cut, try to cut off what would be the bottom end, this will allow any moisture to escape and not pool up and freeze, thus making your LADDERFLAUGE system last longer. When using zip ties plan where any extra ( TAIL ) of the zip tie is pointing in a direction that will not catch on you or your gear when climibing into or using the deerstand. PLEASE use a fall arrest harness when hunting from or working on your deerstand………its hard to hunt deer from a hospital bed. Although the LADDERFLAUGE system is made of UV resistant material its recommend to only leave it up durring hutning season if the ladderstand is going to be left up year round.
