That five-cent fare sign was displayed prominently over the entrance to the South Ferry terminal for many years, but now there’s talk of an additional increase to the one commuters have been paying since 1975. Those steel beams overhead originally supported the passage to the elevated trains, but the last service by them was halted in 1950, two years before this photo was taken.Photo measures 9 x 7.25inches.
