Name – Homer’s Consecration, Carved Out of Ancient Marble Date – 1693 Source – Admiranda Romanarum Antiquitatum, 2 nd Edition, in Latin By – Pietro Santi Bartoli Publisher – Romae ex Typographia Domenici de Rubeis Haeredis Type – Etching of a Roman relief sculpture, which in the late 1600s were being collected by a number of families in the Rome area, and many were from the Papal collection. Information presented by Giovanni Pietro Bellori is in Latin in the commentaries and notes for each print. An example of Classical Antiquity Sculpture from earlier centuries. Note – we had to trim some of these due to excessive insect damage which was almost exclusively in the very wide blank borders. Size – about 14.25×18.75″ Condition – Quite Nice, some insect damage, principally in the top blank border but fortunately not much in the image itself. Some previous owner added a light backing tape along the top edge to reinforce the area. inventory# j74242
